What is the carsales Trade-in Offer Program?
carsales Trade-in Offer Program simplifies the trade-in process for customers and dealers.
- Buyers receive a set trade-in price calculated by carsales.
- Dealers agree to honor this price for eligible leads when the customer proceeds with their purchase
This program is currently only available for new (in stock) and demo cars, so if you choose to enroll, all your new vehicle inventory items will be eligible in the program.
Receiving a carsales Trade-in Offer Program enquiry
- You’ll receive new enquiry notifications via email and/or SMS (if enabled). You can access the enquiry from the notification or simply by navigating to your AutoGate Customer list.
- Enquiries will display a carsales Trade-in Offer Program badge in the Customer page and will include details such as:
- Customer details
- Set trade-in price
- Deal sheet with trade-in vehicle details and set price offer
Viewing the carsales Trade-In Car Information
- Open the lead in AutoGate via the email/SMS link or navigate to the Customer list and select the item
- From the Customer page, you can:
- View sourcing details (trade-in information provided by the consumer).
- See condition responses from the consumer’s questionnaire.
- To delve deeper into the car offered for Trade-In:
- Go to Customer page → Sourcing (Trade-In section) → Click ‘View’
- This will take you to the Sourcing Details page.
Managing carsales Trade-in Offers
In the Sourcing Details page, you’ll find:
- Additional information about the trade-in vehicle, including the set Appraised Value you must honor in line with Program terms (if the customer’s assessment aligns with the dealership’s).
Editing the Price
If the car is not as described by the buyer, you will be able to edit the price in line with the carsales Trade-in Offer Program service level agreement (SLA):
- Click Edit in the Valuation section.
- Enter the new Appraised Value.
- Add a comment (required for the price change) supporting the reasons for the change.
- Click Save.
Updating Status
On the top right corner of your Sourcing Details page, you can manage the sourcing opportunity by changing its status:
- Won – You have accepted the trade-in but it is still due in.
- Received – You have completed the transaction and received the vehicle.
- Lost – You will not proceed with this acquisition.
Important: Updating these fields ensures you have visibility on your Acquisition process performance.
Finding all my carsales Trade-in Offer Program opportunities
On your Sourcing List, you can filter for your carsales Trade-in Offer records
- Select ‘Source’ filter and choose ‘Trade-in offers’.
- Your list will filter only vehicles that are part of the carsales Trade-in Offer Program.
Viewing Vehicle Condition
On the bottom right corner of the Sourcing Details page:
- Click View Response in the Vehicle Condition section.
- This shows the inspection details and questionnaire responses provided by the customer.
FAQs
Q: Can I change the set price?
Only if the car condition differs significantly from what was described or otherwise under a permitted reason under the teams of your carsales Trade-in Offer Program agreement. A reason must be provided.
Q: How do I join the program?
We’ve started this program with a pilot phase with limited number of participants, but we’re looking to expand in the next few months. You can register your interest by visiting this page here or contacting your SaaS specialist.
