The AutoGate Browser Extension helps you make smarter car-buying decisions by showing you real-time market insights, like price trends and value comparisons, right on car listing pages. No need to switch tabs or copy-paste details. Everything you need appears while you browse.
Before we start, you may be asking yourself: What is a Browser Extension?
A Browser Extension is a small tool you add to your internet browser (like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) to give it extra features. Think of it as an “app” for your browser. Once installed, it can help you do things faster or add new functions to websites you visit.
What Do I Need to Start Using the Extension (Prerequisites)?
To use the AutoGate Browser Extension, you’ll need:
An AutoGate account (with your login details).
-
Access to these AutoGate subscriptions:
AutoGate Registration Search
LiveMarket
Acquire
-
In addition, you will need the following User Permissions:
Sourcing Edit or Sourcing Manage
LiveMarket View or LiveMarket Manage
If any of these are missing, contact your AutoGate admin or account manager to enable access.
How to Get Started
1) Install the Extension
Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for “AutoGate Browser Extension.” or alternatively, just follow the Chrome Store listing direclty here.
Click Install and follow the prompts.
2) Sign in
Open the browser extension and sign in with your AutoGate username and password.
If you’ve signed in before, you might stay signed in automatically.
Make sure you stay signed in on the browser extension to make sure the other pages can identify your credentials.
3) Add Car Websites to Extension
When you visit a site you want the extension to work on, the extension prompts you to Start search for that site/domain, but only if you haven’t already added it before.
Visit a car marketplace website (like carsales.com.au or other popular sites of your preference).
The extension will prompt you to “Start search” for that site. Click it.
That site is now added to your active domains, and the extension will work to scan that page automatically.
Manage your sites in Settings
You can easily remove the site at any time, giving you control on when the extension works.
To see the list of sites and remove them:
- Open the extension’s Settings by taping in the settings cog icon
- Review the list of saved websites.
- Click the bin icon to remove any site you no longer want monitored.
Tip: Keep only the sites you actually use to avoid unnecessary noise.
4) See insights while you browse
When the extension detects a vehicle on a website or domain that you have added to your list of active domains, it will show a simple message on the top right section of your screen, indicating that a result was found. For example:
In addition, you will see a red notification in the browser extension bar icon:
Tip: The Exntesion icon is within your Chrome Extensions bar, in the top right of you screen.
Tap on the message or Autogate icon, to see the vehicle key details (model shown in page, VIN/rego, odometer, asking price).
From here you can:
- Add opportunity: it creates a Sourcing record in AutoGate for that vehicle and attempts an Item identification matching to surface market data. For best results and data quality, an AutoGate Registration Search will run automatically when available (Rego or VIN available) to help identify the vehicle more accurately.
Important note: A Registration Search will be automatically completed when VIN or Rego are available, helping you identify the vehicle quicker and more accurately. A fee per Search applies.
-
Report incorrect information: The Extension uses AI. If you noticed the information is not as expected, you can report it using the
icon.
5) Check Opportunity Details and Insights
Once the Opportunity is added, you will have fast access to AutoGate's features directly in your browser.
- Item Identification results and vehicle details:
- LiveMarket insights: view supply, number of comparable vehicles online, LiveMarket average price, average kilometres, recent delisting's, instant offer, and average days to sell.
- Link to see competitive set: it opens the full competitive set in AutoGate Sourcing, to continue exploring the complete set of analytics and comps.
Use these the data to quickly decide whether to pursue or pass, without switching context.
6) Selecting Account
Please make sure you select the correct Account, as any Opportunity Added will be located in the currently selected Account. Also Account settings will apply to your LiveMarket Data.

-
Right-click on the extension icon in the Browser and check it has access to the sites. By default, it should be 'On all sites' but it could have been changed at some point.
